Born in the Kanda district of Tokyo in 1930, synth specialist and sound designer Matsuo Ohno quickly made a name for himself in his thirties as a master creator of incidental sound for TV and radio. His sounds are known and instantly recognisable across Japanese culture, having punctuated the futuristic sounds of the animated show Astro Boy, which takes centre stage on this roots Of Electronic Sound collection.
