Richard D. James flaunts his seemingly endless creative (and often bizarre) wizardry with 6 different reinterpretations of his track ‘Ventolin’ taken from his third studio LP ...I Care Because You Do. Ventolin is the trade name for a popular asthma treatment, which is reported to cause tinnitus as a side affect; here Aphex runs with this concept and incorporates it through the blistering, brutal beats and constant high frequency hum of the ‘Salbutamol’ and ‘Wheeze’ mixes of the track. Other remixes are slightly more approachable and reference the place names of his Cornish homeland; such as the easy-going ‘The Coppice Mix’ and the skeletal drill-n-bass styled ‘Praze-An-Beeble’ that also features vocal snippets from none other than his Mum.
