Future Times Records (Beautiful Swimmers, Maxmillion Dunbar) welcome CMPVTR CLVB member Dreamcast into the fold. This new 7” finds the D.C. Area artist turning in two wedges of home-cooked soul food. A-side ‘Outer Space’ is a delight - its snappy 808 groove and boogie bassline provide a fine foil for Dreamcast’s plaintive vocals. It hits somewhere between Detroit techno and Skinny Pelembe. On the flip we find Dreamcast working with DJ EAZ and fellow Future Times homeboy Will DiMaggio on ‘Up 2 U’, a boom-bap influenced jam that comes across like an updated take on Biz Markie’s ‘Just A Friend’.
