Föllakzoid and J. Spaceman - you may know him better as Jason Pierce - are such a perfect combo that the only real surprise about this record is that it didn’t come around sooner. Both the Chilean group and the Spiritualized/Spacemen 3 geezer have always seen psychedelia as a broad church in which they can test the outer-limits of sound. They do that with gusto on London Sessions, a record that fronts new live-to-tape versions of cuts from Föllakzoid 2015 LP III. Both ‘Electric’ and ‘Earth’ are heady brews built on grooves that draw from equally from the motorik beats of Can and the globalised freakiness of Goat.
