Bristolian dubstepper Guido has got back into gear recently. Three years of silence were broken by May’s ‘Onward’/‘Blazing Trails’ single, and the former Punch Drunk/Tectonic signee has quickly followed that up with this new Unknown EP. There is a neat symmetry to the fact that Unknown arrives at around the same time as Walton’s new LP Black Lotus. Where that album showed a clear influence of the dubstep-grime confluence that Guido helped pioneer at the turn of the 2010’s, the four tracks of Unknown utilise the sounds of an imagined Japan in the same manner as Black Lotus.
