The relatively new experimental imprint First Terrace Records follow up their first split-12” from Like A Villain/Kerry Leimer. Both Chihei Hatakeyama and Vida Vojic opt for a light touch on their entries. Vojic’s ‘Unseen’ and ‘Sfaer’ were originally composed to be heard in complete darkness as part of a 2016 project, and one can imagine that these grainy drones and ambiences would be extremely moving in the pitch black. Her pieces peak and trough more than Hatakeyama’s tranquil ‘Heliosphere’. This nineteen-minute work contains little more than lengthy muted keyboard tones. The listener is masterfully guided through the piece by Hatakeyama’s hand.
