Sometimes it’s easier to know what you aren’t about than what you are. That’s certainly the case for Robert Bergman aka The Boney Burger. At the time of writing, the Soundcloud description for the seventh drop by Brew Records promises ‘NOTHING BALEARIC OR BREAKBEATS TO BE FOUND ON THIS. ALSO WOULD PROBABLY NOT ROCK THE BRILLIANT CORNERS FLOOR.’ He’s not wrong - this record’s going to be getting nowhere near Ibiza this summer. So, we know what it’s not, but what is it? Well, the four tracks (numbered by order, no names here) are all experimental, psychedelic techno takes of the kind one might usually associate with a label like L.I.E.S. or Optimo. The A-sides are particularly trippy, while the closer incorporates a sweet chord progression on the keys.
