Far out, tripping percussion compositions mark this debut album from Tatu Rönkkö on Sonic Pieces. Our attention was caught from the opening moments of ‘Olio’, a slow meditation which sounds a bit like DJ Krush and James Chance jamming with Wolf Muller or Andres Loo. Real smoked out jazz cafe vibes. The LP then moves on to ‘Now’ – a frantic, scattered piece with a nod to jungle and tribal ambient of the 90s. Super cool album here and apparently almost solely made up of self-made instruments from everyday objects! Check ‘Tekoaly’ for the addition of vocals to the mixture.
