New from John Richards (Dirty Electronics) and Jack Featherstone, POLYTIK is a new modular synth, focusing on a DIY aesthetic that yields remarkable results.
"Polytik is a collection of beautifully designed hand-held synth modules. Born out of a DIY ethos, they use open-source hardware encouraging users to make new modules and hacks."
"The brainchild of John Richards (Dirty Electronics) and Jack Featherstone, in collaboration with Artists & Engineers, these hybrid analogue/digital devices look like nothing else on the market, can produce a wide palette of sounds ranging from angular rhythmic sequences to abstract noise, pads and drones and are designed to be tactile and held and touched when playing. There are four separate, colour-coded, battery powered modules. Every Polytik system needs a Core module and at least one sound module and you can have up to three sound modules connected at one time."
"The Core module is loaded with 30 sequences (five discrete patterns per sequence) programmed by John Richards with interviews and comments embedded in the code from musicians and artists including: Jas Shaw (Simian Mobile Disco), Mark Fell, and Frieder Nake."
"You can find example audio, videos and user guide over on www.polytik.co.uk"
