Almost two years after his stunning debut album, John Roberts returns with four new tracks of abstract sound design. ‘Paper Frames EP’ takes Hamburg’s Dial label to as yet unexplored territory – negotiating an aural landscape constructed from an array of oscillating samples, found sounds, acoustic instruments and classic rhythm structures. The result is a sound that is at once traditional and naive, and at others brittle and bold.
