Two giants of experimental music join forces. William Basinski and Janek Schaefer are both masters of composition and their first official collaboration will be out on vinyl and cd in October of 2022. Culled from sessions between the years of 2014 and 2022 in Los Angeles and London, “ . . . on reflection “ is a fitting tribute to their mutual hero, the late Harold Budd. The LP’s numbered tracks certainly betray Budd’s influence with their twinkling keys, reverberated ambiance, and cyclical bird calls. The muffled field recorded conversations on the second track are especially haunting, recalling shades of the highest profile work between the two, Basinski’s Disintegration Loops.
