Welcome to the Bleep Weekly Roundup, our guide to the best new releases. Our album of the week is by !!! (Chk Chk Chk) available on pink and green vinyl. Maintaining both their knack for crafting killer dance-punk and their sense of adventure. Our EP of the week comes from Karenn (Blawan and Pariah) taped live at gigs in Berlin, Rome and Amsterdam.

Elsewhere this week we have the return of acid fiends Paranoid London featuring members of Suicide and A Certain Ratio as well as Arthur Baker, Jeff Mill’s latest Directors Cut, EBM reissued on Mannequin and the latest from the collective Carter Tutti Void.

Be sure to check out represses from DJ Bogdan, VTSS, DMX Krew, Rolando Simmons and more as well as the series of Crass reissues on One Little Indian. Our Bleep Mix this week is a live recording from the Brainfeeder takeover in our store in Dalston by Lapalux.

Album of the Week

!!! (Chk Chk Chk) – Wallop

You can always rely on !!! for a party. The NYC dance-punk veterans have proven themselves to be one of the most consistent acts of the 2000’s, cranking out album after album of righteous grooves and slamming basslines.

!!! - that’s still pronounced Chk Chk Chk, by the way - don’t mess with the formula too much on eighth LP Wallop. Wallop almost acts as an extension of 2017’s Shake The Shudder, a record that presented some of !!!’s most succinct and streamlined songwriting to date. Many of the tracks here are anchored by a punchy one-two of disco big-beats and juicy bass hooks (be they provided by electric bass or a synthesiser)

Karenn (Blawan & Pariah) – Voam Club Archive Volume 1

Blawan and Pariah are very much back on the Karenn hype at the moment - after hearing little from the project for several years we’ve now had not one but two records from the duo in 2019. Following on from the excellent Kind Of Green EP we now get the pair’s Voam Club Archive Volume 1. The four tracks here - taped live at gigs in Berlin, Rome and Amsterdam - capture the relentless drive of Karenn’s harsh, powerful techno sound.
