Weekly Roundup: 9th August 2019

Welcome to the Bleep Weekly Roundup, our guide to the best new releases. Our album of the week this week is 'K3' by Kandodo 3, a psychedelic trip of droning guitars and reverb-drenched reveries across an absorbing 80 minutes.

Our EP of the week is by cult favourite Brainwaltzera, who debuts on Emotional Response.

Elsewhere this week there's a massive 4LP release to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, a tough new Flame 2 (Burial & The Bug) record on Pressure, the brilliant Ecstatic Recordings get weird and wonderful via the efforts of Not Waving & Dark Mark, there's an intriguing double release from Sigur Rós, SP:MC does what he does best with a couple of sub shakers on Sentry and the Black Vinyl edition of Move D's new album 'Building Bridges' has turned up.

Album of the Week

kandodo – K3

Kandodo is the solo project of The Heads’ Simon Price, but sometimes it expands to a trio when Wayne Maskell and Hugo Morgan join in the fun. In this form the band goes by Kandodo 3, and there’s good reason that the name takes cues from Spacemen 3. As demonstrated on new LP K3 this Bristolian bunch have plenty in common with the legendary space rockers - droning guitars, astral beats and reverb-drenched reveries crop up all over the album.

Single / EP of the Week

Originally self-released by the mysterious Brainwaltzera back in 2016, the first pressing of Marzipan was one of those ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ drops that instantly passes over into legend. With its mix of crunchy electro, woozy Braindance, IDM and ambient house, this beautiful EP set out Brainwaltzera’s stall perfectly. As Brainwaltzera’s star has risen in the subsequent years, so too have the prices on original copies of Marzipan.
