Genres

Utilising a sound palette made up of shifting loops of old vinyl records, thoughtfully processed via a rudimentary set-up. Philip Jeck's production is, simply, wondrous. His music is organic, kaleidoscopic and beautifully chaotic.
1920's dancehall acetates are meticulously looped with segues from 50's musicals about the South Pacific and the bold, triumphant brass sections from European propaganda movements of the early 20 century. Jeck gently phases these sounds, drenches them in primitive effects and the results are stunning. The dramatic use of vinyl crackles and other deteriorating effects of the media add to the colourful, sonic nebulae.
'Sand' is another prodigious body of work for the Touch records catalogue. We'd happily loose an hour immersing ourselves in Philip Jeck's attic of dusty, sepia-toned nostalgia.
