Returning to DJ Sotofett’s Wania imprint for the first time since 2015, E-GZR lets the music do the talking here. Metalurgic Funk Volume 1’s only clue as to what lies within comes from its name - no track titles to be found here. That said, the EP does make good on its promise, offering up four hard-nosed dub techno bangers. All of the entries paint from the same palette here - a thick, slightly grainy kick drum; a single repeated chord; occasional additional percussion. And that’s about it. But from minimal materials, E-GZR has constructed some hypnotic rollers. Will function well in many a mix.
