In addition to John Maus’s 2017 LP Screen Memories, we now get Addendum, an album of extra tracks and versions. Some of the songs here eventually morphed into material on Screen Memories, while others are studio outtakes and bonus cuts. However, don’t get to thinking of Addendum as a B-sides record - the dozen cuts here can go toe-to-toe with anything else the synth-pop idiosyncrat has come up with down the years. His vampy, delay-drenched vocals spill out over instrumentals that range from pretty Ariel Pink-style ditties (‘Second Death’) to Depeche Mode-esque darkside pop (‘Mind The Droves’) to Gothic synthwave (‘1987’).
