This latest drop from Bladud Files (The Tribe Of Good, David Tibet) comes courtesy of avant-pianist Reinier Van Houdt. Former collaborator for the likes of Current 93 and Walter Marchetti, and a piano player who has premiered work by Charlemagne Palestine (among others), Van Houdt’s own music draws from his own playing as well as the world of concrete. Found sounds and radio transmissions dovetail with his keyboard compositions for works that combine the spontaneity of concrete composition with the hard-nosed technique of classical playing. Whether playing the virtuoso or the minimalist, Van Houdt’s music remains consistently intriguing across Riemann Angels.
