A record label commissioning two artists from the other sides of the world to work together is often a risky move. However, when that label is Tresor, and those artists are Berlin’s Thomas Fehlmann and Detroit’s Terrence Dixon, the odds seem to swing the other way. True to form, the pair come through with a record of intriguing leftfield techno. As is evident in their solo material - often material which has been released by Tresor - the pair balance minimal and dub-techno drum tracking with strange, distorted micro-grooves on the synths. The second half of the EP incorporates more melody - ‘Experiment 3’ is a nice bit of off-kilter cosmic acid - while closer ‘Landline’ strips out the drums entirely to create a wondrous spacey ambience.
