Jan Jelinek is at it again. The micro-house pioneer returns with Zwischen - that’s German for ‘in between’ - via his own Faitiche imprint. The LP is an adaptation of a radio play Jelinek produced for German broadcaster SWR2. Taking the audio of interviews from a variety of public figures including Lady Gaga, Yoko Ono and Karlheinz Stockhausen, Jelinek chooses to zoom in not on what they say but the spaces between their words and any other non-verbal sounds. Linking these sounds to drones, tape loops and machine hums, Jelinek has created a record that is at once one of his most ambitious and also one that shares much with classic albums like Loop-Finding-Jazz Records.
