Wolverhampton’s Letherette have been increasingly focussed on reissuing their old records in the past couple of years, with their relatively new Wulf imprint serving has a new home for their 2000s EPs and beat tapes. This trend continues with their repackaging of the second volume of their Brown Lounge series. Originally dropped in 2009, the twenty-two short cuts here come together as a fine beat tape. Clearly schooled in the ways of producers from rap’s second golden age - Dilla, Madlib, Just Blaze and so on - Letherette also freak their sound with an electro-funk vibe reminiscent of some Brainfeeder and Fool’s Gold drops. This re-release also marks the first time that the tracks have been available individually rather than as a continuous mix.
