The ever wonderful Ideological Organ dive into the musical universe of Papa New Guinea and issue a series of recordings of traditional flute ceremonies. For the uninitiated, past releases include outings from Glasgow artist and ex-Volcanic Tongue staffer Heather Leigh, legendary band The Necks and Romanian avant-garde composer Iancu Dumitrescu. Basically, there’s a curatorial touch that you can trust at work here. These recordings date back to 1979 and were made by Ragnar Johnson on a field recording expedition to the island. Lush, organic music here that will hold huge appeal for Folkways fans etc.
