N5MD (Winterlight, Aerosol) drop the second collaborative LP between ambient composer Porya Hatami and sound designer Arovane, also known as Uwe Zahn. Kaziwa is a quiet, curious album, with many of the tracks ghosting along on grainy loops and droning beds of sound. Often these are topped with piano playing which laudably avoids the cliched styles of many other ‘contemporary classical’ composers. Instead, the keys hover over these landscapes, gently moving in and out of focus and drawing you into these brooding pieces. Jonny Greenwood’s more esoteric work comes to mind, as do the quieter corners of Yves Tumor’s output.
