Kevin Griffiths puts on his Jura Soundsystem hat to curate this new compilation for Isle Of Jura. Jura Soundsystem Presents Transmission One brings together tunes from the worlds of dub, downtempo, ambient and new-wave. Many of the cuts here are long-lost gems for which this represents their first vinyl release (download versions are also available). Without many big names on show - the closest we get to a headline act is a pretty bit of kosmische from Legowelt’s Smackos project - this record proves to be all about the hidden gems. Trevor Bastow’s ‘Integration’ and a Go-Go edit of Mix-O-Rap’s boogie-hop jam ‘All Party People’ are both party-rocking delights, and the dubs by Minus Group and Astral Engineering are beauties of the Mad Professor school.
