Off Minor Recordings (Move D, Magic Mountain High) with an exciting collaborative EP here. Old Shady Grady is someone you might know better as Afrikan Sciences, the Afro-futurist who pushes jazz-influenced deep house into hitherto unchartered territory. The Neighbourhood Character, meanwhile, has been on the come-up for a couple of years now, helming a show on Berlin Community Radio and becoming a core member of the Woodwork collective. Together the pair construct skittering edge-of-the-dancefloor fare, richly atmospheric and full of detail. It brings to mind what Ras G might make if he was affiliated with Smallville Records rather than Brainfeeder.
