After a run of EPs on Local Action, Lil Jabba hops over to GETME! (Trim, Drum Talk) for another EP of paranoid, neurotic club fare. Despite being an affiliate of Chicago’s Teklife mob, there’s not an immediate footwork influence to the six tracks of MiZO. Indeed, it’s hard to pin down any one style that Jabba's sound. Grime, garage, Jersey, acid house and the hybridised club sounds of labels like Fade To Mind and Night Slugs have clearly all caught the producer’s ear, and the tense atmosphere that pervades the EP brings to mind some Metalheadz releases. However, on MiZO, Jabba's sound remains all of his own.
