Veteran acid weirdo Andy Jenkinson drops his latest Ceephax Acid Crew LP. Maintaining the playfulness that has long characterised CAC’s output - ‘The Great Greatsby’, anyone? - Jenkinson also uses his decades of experience to put the young pretenders in the shade. Most producers would give their left turntable to come up with wistful house jams like ‘Camelot Escalator’ and ‘The Green Night’. While most of the tracks follow on in this vein, there are left turns too. Closer ‘Yodecahedron’, for instance, is a speedy braindance number that balances juke-inspired drums with more of those rose-tinted keyboard pads.
