Every couple of years, a new band emerges who bares the clear imprint of A Certain Ratio. The Mancunian post-punk trailblazers have left a mark on the likes of ESG, Golden Teacher, LCD Soundsystem and many more ever since they released debut LP The Graveyard And The Ballroom in 1979. By their seventh album, 1990s acr:mcr, the group were one of Factory Records most prized possessions, and the records stands as a perfect synthesis of the label’s twin punk and dance aesthetics. The likes of ‘Spirit Dance’ and ‘Good Together’ wiggle with the same 303 goodness as The Orb, New Order and the Weatherall-end of Primal Scream.
