For the first release on eudemonia, Plant43 has delivered three retrograde electro jams. It’s easy to see how the producer born Emile Facey has had tracks out on labels like CPU and Shipwrec in the past. Edge Of The Wood - named for the Celtic meaning of the name of his hometown of Penge - splits neatly down the middle. The eponymous track and opener ‘Porcupine Meadow’ are both solid acid-tinged numbers, club tackle built from busy 808s and warm synth pads. On the flip, the twelve-minute ‘The Toll Gate’ strips the drums out for a vaguely proggy synth jam that has echoes of Vangelis.
