Geej Recordings (Jessy Lanza, Junior Boys) releases this LP of ambient improvisations from Canadian guitarist Colin Fisher. Though bearing cosmetic similarities to the music of Eric Chenaux - a jazz-schooled guitarist, composing via guitar improvisation while utilising a cornucopia of effects and pedals - the pair’s end products diverge quite dramatically. Fisher’s music is far more cerebral, sounding as if beamed in from far away. There is something of both Fennesz and In A Silent Way-era Miles Davis to V Le Pape’s scrunched-up electric sound, while the record’s more tranquil vistas could have been traced from the spiritual work of Alice Coltrane.
