Paul Woolford takes a well-earned break and lets someone else do the work for once. Gerd Janson and Shan step in to rebuild two tracks from Woolford’s acclaimed Special Request LP Belief System. With two versions of both ‘Make It Real’ and ‘Brainstorm’ making it to wax here, there’s plenty to choose from across these four tracks. Unsurprisingly there are house versions of both, and neither fail to disappoint. Taking the throwback rave aesthetic of the Special Request project as a jumping-off point, both house remixes shuffle like nobody’s business as well as incorporating some vintage vocals and piano stabs. Elsewhere the ‘Prance Mania’ mix of ‘Make It Real’ develops into a seriously intense techno jam, while the ‘Electrophunk’ flip of ‘Brainstorm’ shows off a fizzing low-end.
