“An appetite for the unknown”
In a rather unexpected turn of events, Planet Mu's in-house Venetian Snares record factory Timesig churns out a collaborative album between the breakcore production machine and legendary record producer Daniel Lanois, who you may act like you didn't know produced U2's multi-platinum albums The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, plus has worked with Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, and Brandon Flowers. While Venetian Snares, on the other hand, has mainly worked solo (minus some tunes with one of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers) his world-renowned mix of acid, breakbeats and all manner of electronic sounds that have been smashed with a spanner are often imitated yet rarely bettered.
The end result? Well, we can assure you the sing-along chorus crowd are not gonna be too happy... But! if you (and we imagine you must be if you are reading this) are looking for some perfectly high-grade yet fresh sounding breakcore, than look no further than Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois, an album that really excels in every avenue in which it exists!
