A bracing LP from Virginia duo Among The Rocks And Roots here. Using just bass guitar and drums, the pair of Samuel Goff and Abdul Hakim Bilal create a righteous noise across these four long offerings. Raga sees them bring together noise music and several strands of metal to create what Bilal terms ‘heavy indigenous music’. The repetitive elements of their sound - lyrics and drums mainly - are trance-inducing, while from his bass Bilal draws a variety of screeches, moans and bellows.
