New label Role Models turn up to the party with a collection of demos and unreleased tracks from NTS presenter Shamos. Stylistically I Can Think Of Nothing Else But This Machine follows on from the producer’s murky YO2TH EP of August 2017. The recordings here are brooding low-fi cuts that take in hip-hop, coldwave, electro, acid and other electronic wormholes. The tinny synths and grooves of cuts like ‘Your Time With You’ and ‘Bug Juice’ make the tracks sound like they’re constantly teetering on the brink of collapse, an effect that only adds to their intrigue. Overall the vibe is akin to early Hype Williams.
