Thundercat returns to the bar for Drank, a special "chopped not slopped” mix of his 2017 album Drunk by DJ Candlestick and OG Ron C of legendary Houston DJ collective The Chopstars.

While Drunk displayed Thundercat's soulful delivery distilled into twenty-three tracks of truly psychedelic variety. On Drank, the hazy head swimming feel is replaced with the inescapable next day gravity of a slowed down boozed out swirl, one that can only come from swallowing the smooth as butter tipsy fusion sound of the original record, and letting it settle in your stomach whilst it turns over and over into an album's worth of woozy, dubwise digestion.

In true original chopped 'n' screwed style, DJ Candlestick and DJ collective have slowed down the tempo to a marshmallow steppers rhythm and added nuff scratchin' and crossfadin' delay to Thundercat's soulful boogie, capturing perfectly the spun out, headful of a night spent propping up the bar soaking in that legendary purple syrup sound.

The vocal tracks here go in perfectly on that authentic early 90's style, but for those unfamiliar with this sound (or who think their internet connection is being slow or the record deck is warped) try and imagine DJ Screw (RIP) and the Brainfeeder crew cutting bootleg soul 12"s while tripping out on the turntable settings, falling upwards onto the ceiling over whether it should be set to 33 or 45, all of them lost inside a gloopy afternoon round Thundercat's having the slowest, stoned studio session the world could ever imagine.
