Non Projects founder Anenon relocated from his base of L.A. to Italy to record Tongue, his fourth album of multi-tiered beats that are layered with an understanding of minimalism that stems from a mind well schooled in the works of Eno, Cage & Reich.

While his last album Petrol explored the hip-hop connections of L.A.'s vibrant beat scene, being immersed in the Tuscany region of Italy (which has been home to some of the history’s finest creators from Dante to the Florentine Renaissance painters, Puccini to Andrea Bocelli), appears to have given Anenon a fresh approach to his music that is at once achingly ambient, yet at the same time is densely layered with streams of organic rhythm, texture and sound.

While there are tracks of laid-back jazz, see the tempered lick of Two for C and Mansana for some melancholic Erased Tapes style reflection, pieces like Campana and Pure blend a dreamy quality that at times verges on the new age meanderings of Emerald Web or even Robert Haigh's ghost rider piano ballads.
