Another new one on Stroboscopic Artefacts, this time from Tel Aviv artist Yotam Avni channelling ancient Hebrew folklore and modern electronic composition tendencies. ‘Avka (New Life)’ opens the EP with an earthy mix of processed percussion and kosmiche synth work and the end result sits somewhere between Joey Anderson and KWC92. Top stuff! ‘Dybbuk’ is a more straight forward club track, punishing drums and industrial background noise et al. Things grind to a halt before ‘Modern Matters’ kicks in and we’re in proper rave mode. Think Ramjac’s Cameroon Massif but Berghain style!
