This companion-piece to 2017’s Volume 1 is another selection of well-turned out after-party music from West 2 West. Inspired by the MPC excursions of Dabrye, Flying Lotus and other American weirdo-hop producers, John Daly’s take on the form is to create something that nestles in the space between instrumental hip-hop, electro and cosmic house. Everything here is super smooth, coasting along on fat drum sounds, chunky basslines and warm blushes of keyboard. The overall effect recalls the more relaxed corners of Space Dimension Controller’s discography. Out via Dublin’s excellent All City, a label that is on a real run at the moment.
