For a few years in the early half of the 2010s it felt like there was a new banger from Martyn every other week, so prolific and consistent was the Dutch producer, but the one born Martijn Deijkers has kept a relatively low profile since 2015. You’ll be pleased to know that Angels, a three-track EP out on Steffi’s Dolly Dubs label, has Martyn firing on all cylinders. Opener ‘41W’ is an instant classic - bringing together Detroit synth stabs, a rugged bassline and groovy two-step, it intimates that Martyn has been rinsing Special Request’s Belief System. Elsewhere we have the eerie rave tune ‘Body Music’, while the title track is a techno roller in the vein of Martyn A-listers like ‘Masks’.
