Hieroglyphic Being sets out to dazzle us once again with his latest round-house trip to the center of electronic Jazz-fusion, The Red Notes. Having released some of his finest material in recent years for labels including Planet Mu, Technicolour, RVNG Intl. and set to drop a new alias 12" for Arcola sometime soon, The Red Notes sees Hieroglyphic Being continuing the now longstanding alliance with the London record emporium Soul Jazz, one that began in 2015 with The Acid Documents and continued on through 2016's African With Mainframes album K.M.T.

The more downtempo, jazzy side of the album is what makes The Red Notes really stand out from his recent years' releases. Tracks such as The Red Notebook combine an 8-bit crunch with ethereal synth sounds that could be a classic Omni Trio with the tempo slowed down, whereas Awake and Energize goes even further into the metroplex point between the classic acid sound of Adonis and Steve Pointdexter and the futurist approach of Sun Ra.

To really get to grips with where his head is at though, it's key to note that the album has been recorded as ‘a homage to the Blue Note Jazz sound' and as this is Jamal Moss at the switches, he astrally projects this through the cosmic galaxy of classic Chicago acid house sound and feeling.
