Lisbon’s Enchufada (Buraka Som Sistema, Diamond Bass) have sought out the world’s choicest club fare for more than a decade now. This latest record from Peru’s Dengue Dengue Dengue is no exception. Son de los Diablos is as vivid and eerie as its cover artwork. The Lima-based duo of Felipe Salmon and Rafael Pereira weave a strange, hallucinatory brand of dance music here, with melodies peeping out of beats that sound like they’re made from twigs and oil barrels. Even ‘Flootz’, the closest thing here to a mid-set roller, comes peppered with stabs of panpipe and ghostly vocals. A hypnotic and unique record.
