Nature Will Keep Growing
Ascetic House
Catalogue Number
Release Date

Brooklyn’s Horoscope returns to Arizona’s Ascetic House for another journey into textural spookery. The press release cites Prurient as a touchstone for Nature Will Keep Growing, but this album is arguably more reminiscent of Dominick Fernow’s recent dive into the fog under the moniker of Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement. Found sounds, industrial scrapings and chemtrails of melody all languish under a hazy surface here like felled trees in a fetid swamp. Nature Will Keep Growing displaces the listener from the off and keeps them there, constantly withholding or interrupting gratification. Check the jarring marriage of plaintive piano and industrial scrapings on ‘Common Ground’, or how the field recordings on ‘Polyamory As A Rejection of Capitalism’ are buried under a billow of static so deep as to make them almost invisible.
