Gorgeous field recording work from Melody as Truth’s Jonny Nash and Firecracker’s Lindsay Todd. The pair spent some time on the island of Bali courtesy of label owner Daniel Mitchell and Fauna Mapping is the end result of countless hours spent processing recordings of rice fields, insects and the unprecedented humidity. The whole record has this insanely woozy, half-baked atmosphere that lends the percussive leaning tracks like ‘Pipe to Pipe Bushment’ an instant charm. Closing off the album is ‘Mushroom Omelette’, the most ‘easy listening’ track by some measure. It also feels the most indebted to previous work on Melody as Truth, but we’re glad for it!
