Not to be confused with Tiger & Woods, Dungeons & Dragons and a few others we won’t list here, this is actually the first collaborative release between psych heavyweights Dungen and mystical folksters Woods. Born out of their 2017 residencies at Mexican Summer’s Marfa Myths Festival - a project that has previously spawned collaborative records by Dev Hynes & Connan Mockasin and Ariel Pink & Weyes Blood - the pair’s mutual admiration actually dates back to a 2009 tour the bands did together. They channel all of their camaraderie and respect into Myths 003, and the ease of the recording process takes the music to strange new places. There are the expected psych-pop ditties (‘Just For The Taste’, ‘Turn Around’) but also free-jazz peyote soundscapes (‘Marfa Sunset’).
