Gantz returns to Mala's Deep Medi imprint to host some serious dubs for Elif Dikec, Dedw8 and Rider Shafique.
While Gantz sound stays true to the OG roots of the classic dubstep sound of both Deep Medi and Mala's classic DMZ gear, Dying on Acid at times conveys an almost classic Mo Wax'ian hip/trip-hop feel. As if dubstep is undergoing the same sort of transitions into more roots 'n' future into sampladelia experimentation that happened two decades ago within jungle. Fugazi could be Four Tet in UKG mode, with Elif Dikeç's ghosted vox cascading through the smoke and the subs seriously kickin' yet Shivy is pure dread vibes, a halftime grime transition that leaves us craving more. Dying on Acid picks up the samples again for some studio experiments that are sure to sway speaker stacks in the coming weekends. While Sharkeyes blends some Young Echo into the hip-hop mix with devastatingly good effect.
