The queen of the avant-garde and legendary performance artist Laurie Anderson pairs up with the equally well respected string quartet Kronos for an album of collaborative works on Nonesuch. It’s a concept album directly informed by Anderson’s experience of Hurricane Sandy but it functions with all the pop-centric charm and character that defines her rich back catalogue. We’d highly recommend this for lyrical proficiency alone. Landfall has a careful balance of electronic and acoustic sound and the quartet back up Anderson’s signature vocal yearns with all the power of the very storm they are attempting to investigate. New LA is always an exciting prospect!
