Glasgow based sound artist Maria Rossi unveils her debut LP under the Cucina Povera alias. Splitting the release between fellow Glasgow labels Night School and Domestic Exile, Maria opts for a familial approach and it’s not hard to see why when her music feels so intrinsically personal. Evenings spent honing vocal techniques and manipulating synthesiser motifs have culminated in an amazing, trance inducing listen that feels somewhat indebted to Joan La Barbara or Meredith Monk yet unmistakably builds a world of its own. We’re really happy to see this one finally out there!
