Derrick May’s Transmat give the reissue treatment to K. Alexi Shelby’s 1989 classic. All For Lee-Sah is Chicago House of the highest quality. Grounded in pounding 909 rhythms, the three dubs here demonstrate different facets of the Midwest style: the title track is sleek and sexy, with sultry vocals hanging off the beat; ‘My Medusa’, with its earworm bassline, is the catchiest of the trio; and ‘Vertigo’ leans on the 303 the create a busy acid jam. The fact that the original pressings fetch a pretty penny these days is testament to the enduring quality of Shelby’s triple-threat, though £10.49 will do us just fine.
