Strut Records are back on the re-release bandwagon, dropping two LPs from 1970s Bahamian group The Beginning Of The End. Their first LP, Funky Nassau, was a huge hit when it first surfaced, with the title track selling over a million copies worldwide and hitting number one on the Billboard R ’n’ B chart. One listen and it’s easy to see why - it’s a fantastic combination of Philly soul, Afrofunk ala The Funkees and the percussion-heavy grooves native to the Caribbean islands The Beginning Of The End came from. Impressively they manage to repeat the trick eight more times over the course of this fun record.
