As well as having been in Godflesh, Jesu and Napalm Death, and having remixed for Pantera and Mogwai, Justin Broadrick also went under the pseudonym JK Flesh in an early-2000s collaborative project with Kevin Martin (The Bug/King Midas Sound). A recent return to the project has yielded a lot of new music in quick succession, with Exit Stance the fifth JK Flesh release since 2015. Exit Stance transplants the brutalism that has always defined his sonic aesthetic onto a Hessle-scented techno style. The title track, ‘Bullied By Love’ and ‘Caveman’ are all industrial-strength bangers that recall Vatican Shadow, Objekt and Surgeon in equal measure. ‘Motivated by Jealousy’ is a drumless excursion into burbling ambient techno.
