Marco Haas and Apparat’s Shitkatapult imprint celebrate two decades in the game this year. The Orb have been brought in to oversee the celebratory mix record (The Orb Chronicles...), but in addition they also give us this bonus two-track containing an original tune not included in that mix. ‘Suspected Hippies in Transit’ emerges from a nest of whirrs, screeches and other found sounds to blossom into the sort of downtempo roller that the duo have done so well for so long. That said, the track’s distinctly minimal/dub-techno vibe befits a release that marks such a seminal moment for Shitkatapult. On the flip, we get a fleshed-out version of the first track from The Orb Chronicles. Fenin/Bus and Dabrye’s ‘Adeto/What Is Paris?’ is a highly weird piece of slow Schaffelbeat that obliquely recalls the moody trip-hop of early Massive Attack.
